Kyle starts his therapy this week!

Kyle starts his OT therapy this week!Im very excited and hope this helps him.He will go to a private therapy center then the school district is coming out one day a week to work with him.

to catch up on matters

Kyles appt went well.He will be going once a day until his goals are complete for his fine motor skills. The main issues are pen holding(which she said for him to hold his crayon the way he does and still color like he does was a talent ) and other items...he didnt throw a ball the correct way like he should have, walking up stairs wasnt done correctly..they like to see him walking up the stairs one foot at a time..not placing both feet on the same stair. She said she is also going to work on strengthening his Trunk area.Since he skipped crawling he seems to have missed muscle development there. At home i am to let him climb up a slide,do tummy time with him, make tents and such for him to crawl through and do army crawling...also get him to lay on the swing on his belly. She also said that for him not to be able to peddle a bike and have a hard time swinging with his legs on a swing that there was some issue there...i think she said that somewhere its getting lost that its too much info for his brain to take in at once and it gets lost or something like that. She is going to write a letter stating kyle needs speech so we can get him started on that since he has oral motor issues and she is not the therapist for that. She did a sensory profile and he ranked low in the eating and tantrum part...which she expected. She said once we get the speech going we can do a more indepth sensory profile on him.She believes his eating issues stem from a sensory issue of his brain and mouth/tongue not working together. His overstuffing his mouth issue may be that the sensors in his brain/mouth are not informing the brain that his mouth is full so he keeps shoving food in making himself choke etc.
We also have a lady coming out from the school district to see kyle for an hour a week to work with his fine motor skills..he did not qualify for the special preschool but did qualify for this.
Thats it in a nutshell i think.
